Mission: Canary
Location: Haumea Medical
Timeline: MD -10 : 1028 Hrs

One would have thought that with the crisis of a potential illness epidemic quelled, the hospital's inpatient numbers would subside. But, as Luka had swiftly discovered, they had not, especially since the influx of Starfleet crew arriving on station.

A few shipped in with an influx of Bolian Measles, evidenced by the blue spots all over their bodies. It was an illness Luka was familiar with, insisting he help the medical staff with the minor hiccup. He strode in with his medical bag strapped to his side, choosing a time he knew Gunnar would have been ushered off to rest, setting to work.

An hour later, he (with the assistance of some rather quick-working nurses) had all six patients on proper medications and working on the fast track to recovery. Watching as a helpful attendant started to pass lunch out to the patients, Luka leaned against the counter of the nurse's station, breathing a sigh of relief. "I'm just glad we didn't have to quarantine them..." he muttered to the small pup sitting at his feet.

Misaki walked into the main infirmary through one of the side doors. Her yellow knee length and sleeveless dress would have been more appropriate for summer time than the snow covered fields that still covered the world outside. Of course, when you spent your time on a station like she had that didn’t matter much. In any case, she wasn’t supposed to be on duty for a few days yet and she intended on enjoying her time off. She just couldn’t help coming in for a peek at the place.

Taking in a few steps, she noticed a small pup crowding one of the doctors near the nurse's station. “That’s… interesting.” Without waiting for someone to come to her, she sauntered to the nearest biobed and sat on it with a big smile, legs swinging happily, as she looked around wondering who would come to see her.

It would take Luka a short moment, and one of the nurses giving Misaki a judgmental look through the door she could peek from. Turning, Luka peered into the room with a curious look. "Another Bolian measles?" He asked the nurse, who frowned and shrugged.

"C'mon Lugh," Luka instructed, pushing off from the desk and making his way into the room. Even in Command red, Luka made all attempt to look doctorly, his old times stethoscope looping around his neck and a PaDD in hand. He smiled warm, unlike the nurse he was sure was about to go looking through files for the face she had no doubt not seen before.

"Are you here for a check-up?"

Misaki looked toward the man who spoke and almost reacted visibly. She chided herself internally. How had she not caught the command colors when she walked in? There was also the small detail of having seen his picture in his profile. And possibly spent just a tad longer than was appropriate staring at it. She took a moment to look him over carefully now that she could see him in the flesh and made no attempt at hiding the fact. She grinned at him.

“I would not mind that at all.” Thanking the spirits for her darker skin as she felt warmth brush her cheeks she promptly continued. “Plus I hear its mandatory.” She gave a quick glance behind him at the nurse but immediately brought her attention back to him.

"It is, for the Starfleet staff." Luka clarified. At first, he didn't seem to notice the fact that she was in a sundress while it was still cold and snowy out, dismissing it as a tolerance of the cold itself. He could never tell.

He set his medkit down on the table, rifling through it for his 'archaic' medical tools. "So, are you with Starfleet? I don't think I've seen you around before, new arrival?"

Misaki nodded. “Stepped foot on the compound a few hours ago. Had some friends that were heading on vacation and they dropped me off on their way.” Observing his instruments she nodded approvingly. “Had an old doctor back home who refused to use anything other than his old tools. I think he would have liked you. Although I’m not sure he would have approved of the dog.” Bending down she offered her hand to the puppy and smiled broadly.

"Hm." Luka paused, a frown appearing on his features. Lugh, on the other hand, happily padded up to inspect the new person.

Luka looked to the console. "If you've only been about a few hours, you might not be in the system yet. No matter, I'll just see if the new CMO I'm expecting can update your file with blank notes." He took a step to the wall console, activating it with a few taps and turning again. "Name?"

Looking back up at the captain, Misaki bit her lip and half grinned as she straightened herself up. He was following protocol and it was playing against her. She wondered if she could get away with just giving her middle name and nothing more. It was tempting to keep the ruse going for a while longer, if only to see how long she could hold it up. She couldn’t explain it, but she loved this kind of situation. “D’Threll.” She beamed a smile at him.

"D'Threll." He tapped the console, setting up the vocal recording, turning then to the nearby sonic sink, as he continued. "You'll have to pardon me as I ask all my dull questions. For medical purposes, I want to make sure I get your race down too. That way if you've got two hearts I'm listening to both, not just the one."
