Suspicious Findings

Ever since she had been given this task from the Captain, Sera had been diligently working. The task had required a degree of secrecy given the nature, progress had been relatively slow. While she waited on Lillian to arrive, Sera tried her best to stay warm as she skimmed over her PADD. In it contained some of her findings that seemed a bit off for an Intrepid Class starship. The scene looked like a recreation of a crash scene. All of the Io's pieces were grouped by original location, without a saucer section of course.

Lillian walked into the storage room carrying two large cups of coffee, looking around Lillian spotted someone, hoping that it was the person she was looking for, "Excuse me, I'm looking for Lieutenant Williams, I was told to deliver a cup of coffee to her."

"That's me," Sera replied, slightly startled from her PADD looking daze. The coffee looked fantastic after such a cold day and she needed the pick me up from looking at sensor logs for so long. "Thank you so much," she replied as she reached for one of the cups.

Handing her a cup, Lillian introduced herself, "I'm Lieutenant JG Lillian James, I was told that you needed my help." Looking around her, she gestured to the wreckage, "Can I assume that you need help with this?"

"Lieutenant Sera Williams," she replied, introducing herself as well. Nodding, Sera stated, "That's the pile." Looking seriously at Lillian, she pointed out, "What I'm about to tell you stays out here with the wreckage. It's why you were sent to deliver coffee." She did not finish the thought, waiting on the other woman to agree to silence.

"Understood Lieutenant" Lillian replied. "Now you have my curiosity peeked." She said as she took a sip of her coffee.

Trying to figure out where to start, Sera sort of gestured to the piles of wreckage. "Okay," she started, "we are investigating the wreckage to see if we can determine cause. There are some who believe that this was not an accident but a hostile act." Sera then nodded toward her equipment, while adding, "I'm trying to set up a system that will scan for materials that aren't normally found together aboard a starship. Your tactical training will help me weed out the findings that can't be used in bombs."

"A bomb?," Lillian asked surprised, and since this is a secret, "Okay, since this is a need to know thing, tell me what I need to know. Show me what you have and get to the bottom of this. Where on the starship is this from?" Lillian asked,

"All over," Sera pointed out. "We seem to think that that Engineering section is the most probably, but that is mostly estimation," she added as she pointed to a particular section of the wreckage. "We don't have much yet, we just got the wreckage organized by section. Also, don't say bomb too loudly. Still just speculation and no real evidence."

"Got it, okay let's piece together this mess and see what is left over or missing. Can I ask what type of starship this is from?" Lillian asked.

"It's an Intrepid Class, named the Io," Sera responded with a slight nod. "It's what brought us to the colony, more or less," she nodded to the wreckage. "The engineering section is in section Gamma-Three through Gamma-Four," she looked over to the security officer. "We better get started."

"That's right up my alley, being an Intrepid class, okay let's get dirty," Lillian said as she rolled up her sleeves and started to sort through the wreckage.

Taking her tricorder, Sera walked toward the wreckage. "Adjust your scans to this setting, it should ping any time something suspicious is found," she said as she showed Lillian the tricorder settings. The two then got started with what seemed to be like finding a small needle in a large haystack.
