Mission:
Groundwork
Location: USS Io, Executive Officer's Office
Timeline: MD 17 - 1350 Hrs
The day had been set for Luka, not by the intrepid Captain, who was intent on keeping himself busy with other matters, but instead by one of the council members, Seshi Macae, who had insisted he join her in aiding her requisition findings. Which truly meant he was the one at the computer while she looked over his shoulder, pointing and directing at what she assumed was the right thing. It had been a mostly refreshing affair, much different than having to unstick someone else's situation, or having to locate someone who did not wish to be located, but there was a nagging sensation that felt nostalgic. It was a feeling he could not quite shake.
“So that should be it for the Saloon, save of course for all that liquor Pita insists upon.” The dark-haired woman pulled herself closer to the monitor, pointing at another set. “This one is next. I need a doctor to look over that for me, and I have heard word that you are one. I need to make sure it's all there, every vaccine and medication. No exceptions.” As Luka quietly scrolled, he felt a hand on his shoulder. Seshi pressed forward, till she herself was almost spilling into his seat. “And make sure the lollipops are there. I had a friend who was adamant they were the best way to administer vitamins to children, and I cannot think of a better way to boost colony morale than with sweets.”
Luka's lips quirked into a small smile, despite discomfort of the proximity . “If I had thought about that while I was working as a doctor, I might have been forced to counseling.”
“Only to be praised, Doctor Mahone, I'm certain.” Seshi sat back in the chair as Luka worked, eyes upon him. “I do hope you consider a return to being a physician. You must have quite the passion for it.”
“I can't say I don't miss the medical field.” Luka's brow furrowed at a line, marking it for a second look later on. “But there is too much work to be done and I am not content sitting on the sidelines. Not anymore.”
“Too much work to be done?”
Luka's gaze shifted to the woman as she sat with her innocently curious look. Unlike how open he was with Oliver, Luka felt he would have to keep his thoughts on this to himself. There was something off about her, something familiar. “There's a lack of officers with integrity going after Command.” he put simply. Leaning back, he gestured to the console. “According to the manifest, everything asked for should be there. It'll be a first, too. I'll have to make sure Director Stone knows before I hear about another toilet issue.”
“Oh, you let me worry about him.” Seshi replaced herself on her own seat, satisfied with the work, not even feeling the need to check over Luka's once over. “And you, I have to have an expert in Blue Hawaiians come assist Pita in perfecting his recipe.”
“... A what?”
“Don't play coy, Doctor.” Seshi cheerily gave Luka's arm another pat. “I have a great resource who used to tell me you like your drinks so fruity that you couldn't even taste the liquor. And I need a test subject who doesn't look like he'd trip into anything deadly or dangerous.”
Luka's gaze squinched in confusion. Whoever this woman's resource was would likely get him into trouble. Luckily, he would not have to worry about this for too much longer. “... Not while I'm on duty.”
Seshi waved a hand. “Of course not, but we won't leave the ship until you stop by and help him. And I'm sure Oliver will have something to say about missing his saloon owner and one of his council members.”
’No,’ Luka decided, albeit more in thought than anything else. The sense of familiarity he had with this woman he never met threw him off enough. He gave her a polite smile, nodding. “If I have the time-”
“You'll have the time.”
“.... When I have the time, then I'll swing by.”
