Mission: Roll With It
Location: Captain's Office, Command Center
Timeline: MD 01: 1234 Hrs

"Excuse me, I need you to-"

The door to Luka's office burst open, causing Lugh and Haechi to yip with a start, the younger pup leaping up to all fours and staring at the door with big, blue eyes. Luka had himself in a pile of paperwork, something that would have been better illustrated if it were not scrolling frantically through his console screen as it updated. It was a good thing he took up that speed reading seminar in the Academy...

His eyes wandered from console to doorway as the black-haired woman stomped down the room and to the front of his desk, nostrils flaring and eyes alight with rage. Or annoyance. He blinked.

Then he blinked again, when the ball of fiery anger so hastily made her demands. "Give. Him. Back. NOW." Her hands slammed onto the desk at her final word, and it was then Luka noticed the familiar insignia dangling off a chain around her neck.

"Oh, is that where you've been hiding?" he asked dully, "With the Fenris Rangers?" It came as little surprise to him. The woman tended to choose organizations for their cavalier attitudes. It was why she never made her way in Starfleet, though that did beg the question...

"Don't start with me, I know you have him. Your stupid marines told me he was here before asking me a thousand questions about why I was here."

Luka frowned, shrugged, and went back to his paperwork, as if there was not a woman manifesting a volcanic deity across his desk. She tapped her foot a few times against the floor in impatience, before slamming the desk again to see if that would get his attention.

All it received was the Lugh-shaped tackle-smother, causing the woman to let out a string of expletives as she made attempts to swat away the malamute from her person. "GET HIM OFF OF ME!"

And Luka kept on scrolling through his paperwork idly, as he saw the younger pup come to join her big brother in the puppy pile.

"ALRIGHT I'LL BEHAVE! JUST GET THEM OFF OF ME!" she screamed, flailing madly. Haechi barked excitedly, but Lugh seemed nonplussed by the action.

Luka leaned over so she could see him peeking from over his desk. He could not say he enjoyed playing big brother, but he also could not say this was torture for him. "Get them off of me what?"

"Right now!? You're acting like Mom and Da-" She made a noise as she saw Luka retreat back to his seat. "ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!" Then came the huff. "Get them off of me... Please!"

Standing, Luka came around the desk, making sure to take his time in doing so. By this point, Lugh had taken to sitting upon the woman, smiling dopily with his tongue lolling out as Luka came into view. Haechi would have taken a similar approach, but there was no more woman for the young husky to sit upon. Instead, she flopped next to the woman, tail wagging.

"Lugh, thank you for protecting me, but Alika won't hurt me. Off." With a huff, the malamute rolled off the woman, but not before turning around and giving her a giant, sloppy dog kiss on the cheek.

"OH. MY. GOD!"

Alika shot upright, glaring first at Lugh as he barked his 'you're welcomes' at her. She straightened herself out, rubbing the dog slobber off her cheek, and then directing her glare at Luka. "Bro. Brah. Brother. Give me the Ranger."

"Not until we can be sure he is not carrying illicit cargo. Or that he won't get blown up by those damn traders that I'd rather not start a small firefight with." A small, one-sided firefight with the amount of fighters he saw being flown the other day. He held up a hand as she opened her mouth to speak. "He's in our brig. His shuttle is on one of our shuttlepads. The cargo is wherever he says it is, but I'd rather not start an incident over what's likely to be a wrong-place, wrong-time coincidence."

"Oh, you think he's got something to do with that bubble over your colony?"

Luka paused. He hadn't mentioned it, and while it wasn't a secret, it was odd for Alika to do so. "Does he?"

Alika shrugged. "He wasn't at the rendezvous point, so I went looking for him. Imagine my surprise when I find out you of all people are running this little operation."

"Imagine mine when you burst through the door when you're listed KIA in all the reports I've read over the last few years."

A silence hung over the pair, before Alika's defensive stance fell. "... You saw that, then?"

"I saw that." Luka shook his head, offering her the seat across from his. "Look, I've got a situation. Your Ranger, obstinate as he is, seems to be cooperating for the moment. We figure our thing out, we'll figure your thing out - which might not end favorably if we find not so favorable for us things."

By this point, Alika sat herself in the seat offered, frowning. "That doesn't mean I'll be nice about it if I find out you guys are going to seriously arrest him."

"Well, unless you've got the solution to whatever's going on with us? There's not much of a leg for you to stand on." Luka sat himself back down, Lugh and Haechi following after him for pets. "As it stands, the worst thing he did was crash land near our colony. We don't intend to stand in the way, so long as your efforts are humanitarian in nature, but we also would rather that, if they were, they stay that way."

"... I guess that makes sense," Alika conceded.

"Good. Then we can catch up once he's on his way and we get this bubble thing sorted out." He paused. "... How are you with tracking down sources of power from ambiguous places?"
