Equivalent Exchange

Lillian was just finishing her work for the day, filling out the paperwork, checking the security systems, as well as the weapons. she needed to get the report to Captain Mahone, but since he wasn't currently on the colony the XO would work just as well.
She had yet to meet the XO, but she had heard in passing that he was a Klingon, which was unusual since he was in Starfleet, but not unheard of. To say that she was curious would be an understatement. Just the thought of being around another Klingon brought back memories of her time on Kronos with her God-father. She wondered if she had previously met him, but she was going to have to brush up on her Klingon insults if she wanted a good working relationship with him, that is assuming that Starfleet hasn't changed him too much.
Walking out of her office for the night, she headed for the command offices. Upon her arrival, she noticed though the window in the door that he was alone in the office. Knocking on the door she waited for permission before entering.
Koplo hadn't even noticed the other's entrance, hard at work flipping through one PaDD and the next. It was the most quiet anyone would have seen the typically boisterous Klingon. It was not until he threw the PaDD down in frustration that he noticed the young woman enter. Tiredly, he gestured to the seat in front of him. "Sit." It came as an order, as he gave Lillian an odd look. "... Have we met, Lieutenant?"
Sitting down, she noticed his frustration, "Not that I am aware of Sir, but it is possible we met while I was on Kronos as a child with my God-father. His name is Lok G'obarv of the house of Noggra. I brought my security report for Captain Mahone," she said holding up a PaDD.
"I am not familiar with the house of Noggra," Koplo admitted, before taking the report and frowning at it. "Captain Mahone will likely want to take a look at this himself when he returns, but is there anything of note that you'd want to appraise him on immediately?" The Klingon flipped through the report. "... And this details different items from Lieutenant Winslow's. Why is that?"
"The items from Lt. Winslow is from the investigation that I ran until Star Fleet Intelligence came in and took over, Other than that there is nothing else that needs immediate attention sir." Lillian replied. After a few moments she asked, "Tell me sir, have you found anyone to sparr with? I find myself missing the days sparring with Lok G'obarv."
"Ah. Right." Koplo set the PaDD to one side. There came another frown as he shook his head. "In this environment? No. There aren't many Klingons who would brave the colds of this colony. With all the weather changing... I have seen a clan or two interested in turning toward a diplomatic route, but... otherwise? No. Can't exactly find a willing sparring buddy when I'm beating down the doors to get ourselves more secure." He sniffed loudly in a distaste similar to that of his father and father before him. "Starfleet needs Klingon defensive training, I've always thought. No one seems to agree. Not that that stops me from continuing to suggest it."
"I would be happy to spar with you sir, I may be a little rusty in full Klingon sparring, but I am used to the way that Klingon do it. Starfleet needs are a more all in one package then specific training that I'm sure you are aware of. I think they prefer to have the security guards to have their own fighting methods, let's face it not all species can handle blood wine and live gagh," Lillian replied.
"No, they cannot!" Something that Koplo could certainly agree with. But the young human in front of him was jarring. Typically the human females were not of the type to suggest sparring tactics. And he was unfamiliar with her, so the idea of sparring with someone he was not familiar with did not sit as well as he would have liked. "Maybe we'll have time later on er... Lieutenant.... I'm not sure I got your name in all this."
"James, sir, Lieutenant JG Lillian James, Assistant Chief Security. " Lillian replied, she could see that he wasn't comfortable with the idea of sparring but perhaps later on he might. "I'll let you get back to work Commander," she said and left the room.
