Mission: Terrorpin
Location: Strat Ops Offices
Timeline: Before the Terror

The tour that Min had taken throughout her day, bag of snacks in hand, landed her on a floor she was absolutely unfamiliar with. While there was no immediate snack in hand, she could sense the people around her staring curiously. Not doing whatever their jobs were on this floor. She must have gotten caught up being stuck in the turbolift.

Shrugging, she kept on. Peering at a console here and there, eavesdropping on bits of conversation. She was unfamiliar with most of it, likely because this was a department of red uniforms on a colony. Which left flight operations, but they did not have an office in the Command Center. They had a big tower that was likely Nest-named, and an Onlie for a department head. The more she observed, the more she found zero Onlies. Just a lot of stares.

It was not until she found the head office that she realized where she had stumbled into; Strategic Operations. A department she was never going to really make head or tails of, and one she tended to let others take care of for her. She stared at the plaque that was next to the door; Scott Jones. That name rang a bell, but she and Bradley were on the same page. He was the strategic 'make sure the colony doesn't get blown up' guy. She just had to make sure the colony was going to be intact for Luka's return.

Shrugging, she politely pressed the little buzzer to alert the lieutenant, before walking herself right in. Might as well meet the new staff herself, just in case.

"Come in," Scott replied. He was standing at the other side of the small conference table that was in his room, finishing up a conference call with a few of the ship captains assigned to the area. "Well ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for your time today and I look forward to all of us working together. Within the week I should have gotten myself up to speed and will be able to send you sector briefings weekly unless more urgent matters come up. I promise not to be like some of my counterparts and send long-winded reports. I appreciate what time you do have is precious."

Taking a big sigh of relief, Scott turned round, he noticed the pips (something he did instinctually now at this point) and brought himself to attention. "Captain, apologies, I had a call scheduled with a few of the ship captains in the area. I had wanted to come and introduce myself first, but I admit to getting myself lost. Coming from a starship cockpit to a colony is a bit of an adjustment." He tugged at his uniform to make sure it was sitting correctly, still adjusting to this version of the uniform rather than the more snug pilot attire which was far more comfortable and familiar.

The sides of Min's lips twitched into a small smile. "I assure you, I would have been happy to wait however long it took," she explained. "I sort of got lost myself and thought I would stop by while I was here." She paused, gesturing to a vague spot in the air. "If any of those Captains take issue with you, certainly let us know." While the idea of anyone taking major offense to a little off the path colony seemed farfetched to her, Min was not about to count any possibility out. "But I hope you're settling in well?"

"If anything, they will be the ones having issues with me," Scott sighed, "Strategic Ops is never strategic enough sometimes, but I know how to handle most of them and any complaints. Goodness forbid a report comes in a little late or something happens that we don't have intel on as it is an event that is in process." He walked towards the replicator slightly recessed into the wall, "Can I get you something, Captain?" he asked as he also gestured to the seats towards an empty desk that would soon be dotted with the usual momentos and PADDs. "As for settling in, having arrived only this morning, I would say quite well. I travel light, so a brief stop at what will be my quarters, I hope, and then onto here." He ordered himself a coffee and the familiar glow and hum lit up his face as it shone into existence.

"I'm quite alright," Min admitted. She shifted in her seat to make herself more comfortable. While she could have gotten herself down to business, the young Captain's curiosity would get the better of her. "If I remember correctly, most if not all of the department heads have the ability to create themselves a home a little off the beaten path of the colony if you would prefer that to a simple quarters space in the apartments. The offer is always extended. But I do also know some of your compatriots tend to gravitate toward the smaller quarters because... well, they're closer."

"Anything above a fighter cockpit is more than spacious enough," Scott smiled, "although I do appreciate the offer, and maybe one day if it remains an option." He took a long sip of his coffee from his barely steaming cup that was on the table. "I suppose I should deliver my first report to you then Captain," and he passed over a PADD, "It is nothing much, but only what I could gather on the journey over. We have a list of all current fleet ships within the sector and what assignments they are on. Known ships making their way through, it seems we have a Klingon science vessel, with authorization, making their way through. Also included are some intelligence reports on a pirate band that has been raiding civilian and cargo ships, the Hiawatha has been made aware and is keeping an eye out while on their mission."

"A Klingon science vessel?" Yes, that was what Min focused on as she reviewed the contents of the PADD. "I haven't seen one of those in quite awhile. We'll have to contact them and see if they have anything they want to compare notes on in this region."

She fell silent, but only for a beat. "If you haven't already, send the reports about these pirates up to the Marines. I'm sure they'll want to know about this as well. Just in case they get too close to Haumea." There was an odd coolness in her voice as she handed the device back. "But keep me appraised as well, in case something comes up. The last thing I think anyone needs is pirates coming to find us." Min offered a small smile. "I am happy to hear you're settling in. Please let me know if that changes. But, if there is not anything else... perhaps I should go before the yeoman comes to find me."
