| Physical Description | Dana would describe herself as 'compact', possibly 'sturdy'. As someone who spends a lot of time out exploring whatever world she's on, her only concession to Starfleet standards, or bothering with her appearance at all, is tying back unruly curls. |
| General Overview | A specialist in xenobiology and environmental sciences, when dropped into a new biome, Dana can be like a kid in a candy store. This occasionally overrides awareness of social niceties, making her come across as blunt or short with people who don't see what she does. But outside of those circumstances, while still opinionated, she has a ready warm smile, a sly sense of humor, and a communitarian spirit. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Hiking, spelunking, collects and polishes rocks to make her own jewelry |
| Personal History | Dana was born and raised in the Negev District on Earth, in a community where the cultural mythos surrounding 'making the dessert bloom' led to a 20th century focus on environmental science to accomplish just that, and later through that same discipline came to appreciate the unique dessert ecosystem and sought to preserve it. Even after devastation wrought by the Eugenics Wars, when the focus became making the planet bloom again, there were those who argued for restoring original ecosystems - places where biodiversity could thrive. Dana took to that ethos like a duck to water, or in her case, a dromedary to the desert. A childhood spent hiking the desert, led her to studies on desert ecosystems, which lead to a two year field study program on Vulcan's Forge and from there to Starfleet Academy and specialty in xenobiology and environmental sciences. Service in Starfleet was the springboard for diving into a vast array of new worlds and new ecosystems, most recently on Haumea (though the Deep Freeze was one climate she was content to study from a warm office while someone else gathered data in the field). |
