Physical Description Well-muscled with a large imposing frame for a Bolian, Jott Brott is like an electron in an excited state. His inability to stay still for long earned him a childhood nickname - "Jittery Jott" - that has stayed with him for the rest of his life. He has a gentle nature but between his personality and his size he tends to fill a room and can be an overwhelming presence at times. He has the trademark blue skin, hairless body, and cartilaginous bifurcating ridge of the Bolian people as well as the slight paunch characteristic of such a culinary culture. (He's often remarked that without body hair, he's forced to store extra fat to stay warm.)

Personality & Traits

General Overview "Jittery" Jott Brott has a personality as oversized as his body. He's verbose to a fault and suffers from a mouth that's constantly trying to catch up with his brain. It can make him appear scatter-brained, disorganized, and easily distracted at times; however, he's actually a very thoughtful person both in his approach to work and socializing. Jott is a bon vivant: never very serious, always looking for new & exciting experiences, and happy to spend his time with other people or in pursuit of his many interests. Despite his buoyant enjoyment of life, he understands the need for professionalism in an environment like Starfleet and does his best to accommodate it in the workplace.

Personal History Jott is the fourth oldest of twelve children. His parents - mother Lagg Kramm and co-fathers Rigg Brott & Dax Gaxx - saw themselves as blessed by balance and symmetry when they had six boys and six girls. He had a traditional, family-oriented upbringing centered around the burgeoning BGK Freight Corporation owned by his family, which is responsible for roughly 30% of the commodities trade in the Bolarus sector. While all eleven of his siblings seemed perfectly content joining the family business in some form or fashion, Jott always dreamed of a more adventurous life, something far away from the routine and confines he'd always known.

The only disappointment Jott's family expressed when he announced his decision to attend Starfleet Academy was that they'd see him less. Rather than question him or mark him the black sheep, they supported him in his desire to explore the wonders of the galaxy. At the Academy, his inquisitive nature led him to excel in the sciences. His natural aptitude gave him the means and a childhood full of action/thriller holovids gave him the drive to study archaeology and anthropology, seeing for himself a life full of adventure and discovery among ancient ruins.

As his studies deepened, he branched into xenobotany and archaeobotany, which he pursued in a graduate studies program. His first posting was as a science officer in a five-year long planetary survey expedition to the Ylenis Cluster in the Beta Quadrant, an area of space that had once been densely populated until a devastating series of interstellar wars wiped out the civilizations there. It was during this time that he felt confirmed in his career decision and fields of study as he naturally fit into the survey teams and toward the latter end of the expedition found himself in junior leadership roles.

In 2371, he was stationed on 3962 Dou Xiu IV, a largely unexplored but formerly inhabited jungle planet with rich natural resources at the far reaches of Federation space. During the Dominion War, he joined up with the marine detachment assigned to 3962 Dou Xiu IV and assisted them with reconnaissance and raids against Jem'Hadar forces fighting to capture the planet and its resources. Like much of the officer corps at the time, the conflict left an indelible impression on him and influenced his next career moves.

For the next five years, he served as a Starfleet liaison to the Federation Cultural Rehabilitation Commission, which focused on post-war archaeological preservation of sites damaged during the war. He found the work rewarding and felt it washed away whatever guilt he had accumulated during his time on 3962 Dou Xiu IV. During his time working for the Commission, he also launched a series of travel books which gained immense popularity. Among his most notable works published during this time are The Sun of the Empire: A Guide to Klingon Border Planets; Don't Fear The Horga'hn: A Practical Guide to Risa; Case of the Prize Bulldog & Other Stories from Cestus III; Lodestar Weeping: Flora & Fauna of the Cracked Moons of Lan-Cai-He; The Colonial Front: A Quest for a Life with No Regret; and Garden of the Hurricane: Farming the Floating Islands of Svati V.

In 2380, he was selected to join one of the first joint Federation-Cardassian archaeological missions to excavate lost Hebitian ruins uncovered during Dominion bombardment of Atbar Prime. It was during these four years that he developed an interest in Hebitian culture and architecture, as well as the ways in which Cardassians were beginning to rediscover their roots in contemporary times. His ever-expanding contacts with the Cardassians led to the offer of a consulting position with the Cardassian Museum of Heritage on Cardassian Prime advising on preservation of at-risk cultural sites across the Union.

When negotiations with the Dominion allowed for regular and open travel into the Gamma Quadrant, Jott arranged transfer to the first science vessel embarking on a long-term expedition to that largely unexplored region of space. He was assigned as the chief archaeologist and double-dipped where possible in botany studies along the way. At the conclusion of the expedition, he took a short sabbatical to write The Stardust Journey: Passing Through the Temple of the Prophets and Into the Next Great Frontier, an oftentimes humorous account of his experiences in the Gamma Quadrant that was later optioned into a documentary.

Following his sabbatical, he transitioned back into service with Starfleet by taking a teaching position at the Academy, pursuing personal research projects in cooperation with the Daystrom Institute, and joining the illustrious ranks of the Federation Archaeology Council. Though his assignment extended longer, he abruptly tendered his resignation from both the Academy and the Institute in 2396 (though he retained his seat on the Federation Archaeology Council) and accepted the position of chief science officer at the comparatively obscure Haumea Colony outpost.
